Vita Frames creates carefully crafted fine art picture frames with a high regard for ‘truth to materials’, craftsmanship and sustainability. Now approaching its first birthday, Vita was created by artist and photographer Jake Yugovic and named after Jake’s rescue pigeon, Vita.
There’s no such a thing as a typical day at Younghusband. Each day is a blank canvas with any number of diversity activities, creations and people finding inspiration in the woolstore. For six weeks, one could find RMIT students using masking tape to create shapes and patterns across the vast timber floors, already marked upon by previous occupants throughout its 100-year history.
Furstock Studios is a music production studio run by multi ARIA award winning sound engineer, Doug Brady. Doug has over 35 years of industry experience with credits that make him one of Australia’s most prolific and successful music engineers with an impressive list of clients and artists which includes some of the worlds most successful names in the entertainment industry.
The Fox Darkroom & Gallery is a darkroom for hire and exhibition space. It promotes and celebrates photography through hands-on workshops and by exhibiting work from emerging and established artists. Established in 2014 by photographer Tom Goldner, The Fox Darkroom offers a regular program of workshops: covering manual photography, film developing and darkroom printing.
Environmental performance is key to Younghusband, with our vision for the development to become Victoria’s first carbon and water neutral adaptive reuse precinct. As part of our commitment, we’re aiming to achieve an equivalent five-star NABERS rating across the entire project, and planning to apply Passivhaus principles to all new builds.
On the Kensington railway, in inner north-west Melbourne, stands Younghusband, an impressive collection of 19th-century industrial brick buildings spanning two blocks and connected by a bluestone laneway. Once home to the Younghusband wool store and now home to some of Melbourne’s most creative businesses and artists — the diverse historical warehouse factory is again being repurposed and reimagined.
